THANK YOU

One of my favorite stories about Jesus tells how he healed ten men of leprosy. Only one of them returned to Jesus to say thank you.  The other nine were not penalized for their oversight; the one received healing along with the other nine, but he also may have received something else: I would like to think that he received a smile from Jesus.

Today, I want to say “thank you” to some people who have served God and the Presbytery. First, I want to thank all of the youth and adults who have shared their time, talents and energy on the Youth Council of the Presbytery of Baltimore.  Amy Blair, Kayleigh Bryant, Matt Goodwin, Zach Jamison, Colynn LaBerge, Logan LaBerge, Anita Peterson, and Joanne St. John gave countless hours planning, preparing and presenting presbytery’s Junior and Senior High Youth Retreats and Youth Rallys for two years.  Two guys from Williamsport, MD shared three years of creative, enthusiastic and dedicated service: Brian Sandell and Kevin Sandell.   Many thanks to each of you.  We have all benefited from your gifts and talents.

Another person who receives a great many thanks from me and gratitude from this presbytery is Mary Ellen Barrett, Resource Center Librarian.  For 29 years Mary Ellen served this Presbytery; she physically moved the Resource Center three times, uploaded over 5000 resources on four different computer programs from MS DOS to the new on-line catalogue at the Presbytery’s website.  She has shelved every resource, kept careful records, answered your questions and sent out numerous resources and equipment to you.  As a result of the COGOS visioning, her position, Resource Center Librarian, was eliminated.  Mary Ellen’s final day was May 1, 2005.  “Mary Ellen, I have been overwhelmed by your support, grown in your knowledge, been awed by your detailed work, and blessed by your friendship. Thank you.”
