Presbytery of Baltimore

Together Transforming. People. Church. Live.

“Transforming People” is a phrase that I identify with.  When I first became a member of the Presbytery of Baltimore in December of 1987.  I remember it well.  I was a young and naïve individual with little work experience under my belt.  The surroundings of people, places and things were unfamiliar to me, sometimes even intimidating for a person of my status. But, that did not stop me from wanting to know more about this place called the “Presbytery of Baltimore.” And not to say the least my first REAL JOB.

Since then I have learned so much over years of managing non-financial data, so that our members can be informed about persons in our Presbytery.   I arranged meetings for difference events, typed letters of many interests, and solved computer problems, which are always winning challenges for me.  I also installed different computer software so that the Presbytery of Baltimore could be better equipped to serve you. Yes, the list can go on.  And I have learned it all here at the Presbytery of Baltimore.

Let me not forget about lessons I have learned on conduct during changes and controversial issues.  They were demonstrated to me well, “decently and in order.”  I have witnessed that during the many Presbytery meetings we had.

My dedication and loyalty to the Presbytery of Baltimore is a result of you making me feel like my gifts are valuable.  So, no matter how my day is going in the office, you will always get a cheerful greeting from me.

To summarize what I have learned about the Presbytery of Baltimore; it is a place of transformation that has shifted me from one being to another within the 18 years of my stay.  A few years ago, I would have never thought about doing an article like this.

As new staff members come aboard, I will let them know being transformed is not bad.  Especially when you are with the wonderful people of the Presbytery of Baltimore who will support and guide you through your transformation.

Many thanks,

Alice McGee

Farwell to our fellow Ministers as they venture off into other areas of ministries in our denomination:

William Johnston will serve as Interim Pastor in the Presbytery of Salem.

Steve Shussett accepted a call as teaching Presbyter in the Presbytery of Lehigh.

Jim Cazin will undertake a validated Ministry in the Presbytery of Tampa Bay.

Prayer Concerns

First PC of Barton asks for prayers :

  • For the success of a new youth program, and for God's guidance in creating a vision for the future of the church.

Knox PC asks for prayers :

  • For the start and completion of the Dawson Safe Haven for Children, Youth and Families---MAAFA Center. The construction of the building is to start the first of October and will hopefully be completed by the end of April next year.  This center will stand as a memorial to the seven members of the Dawson family who lost their lives in a tragic firebombing over drugs, on October 16, 2002.
