There is a confluence of voices — both secular and sacred — about one of the most important challenges facing our society today: the moral and spiritual development of our children.  So the question for the church is: What are we doing about it and how well are we doing it?

Please set aside Saturday, May 10 from 11:30am to 1:30pm to explore how we, as the church, can be effective in our ministry with children.  We’ll hear what many organizations are saying — with particular attention to the “Hardwired to Connect” report — about critical issues that are facing children and teens. Then, we’ll take an in-depth look at a tool called The Children’s Ministry Effectiveness Model that The LOGOS Ministry has developed as a result of 45 years of working with churches all over the US and Canada.  The model is built around three primary components that form the heart of a comprehensive children’s ministry.

PURPOSEFUL:  Is the congregation intentional about why a children’s ministry is vital for the church?

PRACTICAL: Does the congregation have an effective plan and approach for implementing and sustaining the children’s ministry?

IMPACTFUL:  Is the effect of the children’s ministry truly reflective of ministry and not merely another program in the church?

We’ll examine all three components as we share our perspectives and, later, come together over lunch for more discussion and fellowship. You’ll also leave with some valuable materials to share with the rest of your congregation.

This interactive and timely event is for anyone interested in or involved with children’s ministry; and, lays the groundwork for working with young people of all ages.  So, please join us at Second Presbyterian Church on St. Paul Street in Baltimore on May 10.  This event is free, but reservations are required. RSVP by May 3rd to Jane Johnson at 410.433.2012 or jjohnson@baltimorepresbytery.org.
