It Is Impossible To Accomplish Anything Alone

In his book The Irony of American History, Reinhold Niebuhr writes, “Nothing that is worth doing can be achieved in our lifetime; therefore, we must be saved by hope. Nothing which is true and beautiful or good makes complete sense in any immediate context of history; therefore, we must be saved by faith.” (This next line is underscored for emphasis) nothing we do; however, virtuous, can be accomplished alone, therefore, we are saved by love.

In my new role as Director of Development for the Presbytery, I am most cognizant of that last fact, that it is impossible to accomplish anything alone; it is in a spirit of cooperativeness that the mission of Baltimore Presbytery is achieved.  Our shared vision, addresses social needs that enhance, improve and advance the lives of others. The ties that bind us in mission are deeper than those that separate us and I look forward to working with everyone in achieving common goals for uncommon good.

Together, we can transform lives..church..world

First PC  of Westminster asks for prayers :

·          For discernment, as we continue to seek a clearer vision of the mission to which God calls us

·          For guidance, as we begin to search for a staff person to oversee our growing youth and Christian Education programs

·          For faithfulness, as we respond to more needs than there are resources

Havre de Grace  PC asks for prayers:

·          For thanksgiving for recent growth

·          For us that God would inspire members to deepen their commitment through our W.I.S.D.O.M. campaign
