Native American Partnership
While it is geographically attached to the United States, the “Indian Nation” may be perceived as foreign land with which to form a partnership. For several years, a relationship of mutual mission has been growing between Baltimore Presbytery and the Dakota Presbytery. Groups from the Baltimore Presbytery have been going to Makasan Presbyterian Church in Oglala, SD to help run learning camps since 2003. In the summer of 2006 a new learning camp site was added in Pine Ridge Village. Both of these sites are on the Pine Ridge Reservation. There are plans for expanding to other sites in the future and new staff members will be needed to go and help with these new learning camps.
