NOMINATING
COMMITTEE
The Nominating
Committee has three tasks:
- To nominate all persons to be elected by the
Presbytery including, but not limited to, officers of the Presbytery,
members and chairs of committees (when election by Presbytery is required
by the Manual of the Presbytery), the Permanent Judicial Commission,
Trustees, commissioners and alternates to the General Assembly and the
Synod of the Mid-Atlantic, etc.
- To consult with the Committee on Representation
regarding the inclusiveness of nominations, advising that committee of
racial ethnic, age, and sex distribution of candidates before they are
presented to the Presbytery for election.
- To follow the requirements of the PCUSA Book of
Order in selecting nominees.
Individuals
who are members of the Presbytery (ministers, elders, candidates for ministry,
laypersons, etc) may indicate to the Nominating Committee their interest in
serving in an elected position by completing a Nomination
Form. Interested individuals may also come to the Committee’s attention
by being suggested by a third party using the same form.
Note: The
Nominating Committee does not nominate itself! It is nominated by a
subcommittee of the Presbytery Council, then elected
by the Presbytery as a whole.
