Committees
Many Presbytery committees correspond to recognized areas of
ministry found in virtually all congregations for example,
Stewardship, Mission Interpretation, Christian Education, Mission,
Administration, Peacemaking, Youth Ministry, etc. These committees
are not only sources of information for local churches, but also
sponsor their own presbytery-wide events and activities such as
stewardship workshops, mission fairs, Christian education seminars,
training for elders, youth retreats, opportunities for peace and
justice advocacy, etc.
Personnel Committees Some committees foster the health and well-being of pastors, congregations, and persons who are pursuing a call and career in ordained ministry for example, Ministry and Preparation for Ministry. The procedure for transferring ministers in and out of presbyteries is uniform throughout the denomination and is completed through actions by these committees.
Church Growth Committees Other committees specialize in developing new churches, enhancing the capacity of already established congregations, and raising funds to support these goals: New Church Development, Church Enhancement, New Churches for a New Day.
Utilities Committees And still other Presbytery committees enable the internal functioning of the Presbytery itself, plan its bi-monthly meetings, and set goals for example, Personnel, Budget and Finance, Investments, Trustees, Permanent Judicial Commission, Nominating, Worship, and Council.
Volunteers from the 74 churches of the Presbytery
form the membership of all committees. If you are interested in
serving on a committee, please complete and send in a NOMINATION
FORM. | |
