Global Partnerships
The Global Mission Committee
concentrates on mission endeavors outside the Presbytery boundaries.
Its ministry is accomplished primarily through partnerships with
on-site denominations that are equivalent to the PCUSA. The term
mutual mission is appropriately used to describe the
type of relationship that is sought in each global partnership
that is, a relationship in which each partner is blessed by and
benefits from the gifts of the other. For example, Americans may
offer resources derived from great wealth and technical expertise
while their partners in other racial and ethnic groups may offer
precious insights and examples of spirituality, community, hope,
patience, and humility. Through visits, prayer, advocacy, and attention
to current political/economic situations, the partners establish
strong bonds of solidarity even though thousands of miles may separate
them.
Guatemala Partnership
The partnership with the Mayan Kaqchikel Presbytery in Guatemala
is an excellent example of active, vibrant global mission. See www.guatemalapartnership.org or
contact Kim Champagne (the partnership's web-mistress) at wkchamp@verizon.net for a full discussion of this global partnership.

Cuba Partnership
In November, 2003, the Presbytery of Baltimore approved a new
partnership with El Centro Presbytery in Cabaiguan, Cuba. This newest
of the Presbytery's partnerships is still in the development stages.
Please visit www.cubapartnership.org for a look at the exciting possibilities it presents.
Native American Partnership
While it is geographically the United States contains the
"Indian Nation", it may be perceived as foreign land with which
to form a partnership. For several years, a relationship of mutual
mission has been growing between Baltimore Presbytery and the Dakota
Presbytery. Groups from the Baltimore Presbytery have been going
to Makasan Presbyterian Church in Oglala, SD to help run learning
camps since 2003. In the summer of 2007, another new learning
camp site was added in Porcupine. Porcupine joins Makasan and Pine
Ridge as the third Learning Camp site. All three of these
sites are on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in southwestern South
Dakota. Please click Hau Kola or visit the Hau Kola Learning Camps website, www.houkolalearningcamps.org
