Public Policy Advocacy of the Presbytery of Baltimore
Advocacy in the Presbytery of Baltimore is largely carried out through the Peace and Justice Committee. The commitee deals with advocacy in three ways:
1. It supports advocacy efforts already underway by others through grants to organizations working on specific issues ranging from Jobs with Peace in Baltimore to CEPAD, which is working on justice issues in Nicaragua.
2. It advocates directly from the Presbytery of Baltimore Office for Public Policy both with the Maryland General Assembly and the administration in Annapolis and with the administration and the Congress in Washington, D.C.
3. It advocates PC (USA) policy and Presbytery of Baltimore policy
positions with the Maryland delegation in congress and with the
administration through the Public Policy Advocacy Team. If you would
like more information on the advocacy team or you are interested
in joining the team please send e-mail to the Presbytery office.

4. It works through interfaith coalitions, such as the Maryland Interfaith Legislative Committee and the Interfaith Coalition for Peace, on justice issues about which there is broad agreement across the communities of faith.
5. It works with congregations both to educate about the legislative process and to enable individuals to take part in the process by providing timely information about the bills in the legislature during the annual sesion.
