HUNGER JUSTICE TASK FORCE

"When I was a boy, my father used to say, ‘It’s better to build a fence at the top of the cliff than to have an ambulance at the bottom."
-  Art Simon, founder of Bread for the World

HUNGER

Mission can be viewed as the ambulance, addressing problems as they occur.  Justice can be viewed as the fence, preventing problems before they occur.  On a national level, the Presbyterian Hunger Program (PHP) serves in both capacities by working with congregations and partners around the globe to alleviate hunger and eliminate its causes.  On a local level, the Presbytery of Baltimore also addresses the issue of hunger through five areas highlighted in the Common Affirmation on Global Hunger.

    • Direct Food Relief

    • Development Assistance

    • Influencing Public Policy

    • Lifestyle Integrity

    • Education and Interpretation
